Using a mini keg with a regulator is much easier to use than traditional kegerator system. But if your used to the taps in a growler bar or a home tap system you have to change the way you look at things a little bit.
Normally the lines are under pressure, usually 12 psi, then with 5' of beer lines you create enough drag to serve the beer at approximately 5 psi. Serving rooms maintain this perfect balance with several methods of flow control to serve you a perfect pint every time.
How to pour
With a mini keg there is no beer line, just a dip tube and straight out the tap, so you want to release all pressure from the keg right before serving. When you get your keg home let it sit in the fridge for at least a half hour to fully chill and settle down from the shaking of getting it home.
After settling you can snap on your tap and regulator making sure that both are in the off position.
The regulator will automatically release pressure once snapped on keg if the knob turned all the way counter clockwise.
Open the tap and next to nothing should come out.
Slowly turn the gas knob until beer flows nicely
Fill glass and turn off faucet, at this point the regulator should be sitting at about 3 psi and will serve the full keg with a suitable head.
If any foaming starts simply release the pressure in the keg by turning the regulator knob fully counter clockwise or pull up on the pressure release valve.
